A healthy smile starts with regular exams and cleanings. Just like getting the oil changed in your car, to maintain optimal oral health, you should visit the dental office regularly.
At your hygiene appointments, you will receive comprehensive care. The hygienist will look at your whole mouth; gum health, teeth health, bone health, alignment, and bite health. You may receive a digital scan of your mouth as a digital record to monitor your oral health.
You will leave the cleaning with a personalized treatment plan to help you maintain your best oral hygiene between visits. Each patient's needs are different, so we encourage you to ask questions to be able to achieve your best smile.
The average cost of a dental check-up and cleaning can range between $240-$550, depending on if X-Rays are required and if you are a New Patient to our clinic. (New Patient's to us require additional time, records, and assessment.
What to expect at your comprehensive exam and cleaning:
Comprehensive Examination
The dentist will do a clinical assessment of the current state of your mouth, your bite and jaw joints will also be assessed. (For returning patients and New Patients)
X-Rays
A full series of radiographs may be taken to gain a full look of your mouth. If you have had x-rays done at a previous dentist, we can reach out to them so they do not have to be taken again.
Gum Evaluation
We care about every part of your mouth, the hygienist will assess the levels of your gums and bone surrounding your teeth for periodontal disease (known commonly as gum disease) and pockets. Pockets are identified when the gums start to pull away from the tooth when there are signs of inflammation. We follow the 2018 AAP staging and grading system and the hygienist uses this to determine the frequency of your hygiene visits.
Digital Scan
We love technology! You will be scanned with our 3D digital iTero scanner, this is a digital record for the dentist to be able to monitor your gum health and/or recession, as well as give you a visual look of your mouth.
If you are a New Patient to our office and booking your appointment for the first time, please let either the Treatment Coordinator or Reception team know when you had your last hygiene visit. If it has been more than 1 year, we may need to spend some extra time on your visit!
